Pita Pit (Part II)
So I decided to give Pita Pit another try... it helped that they had a special going on for 4.99! Can't beat that. I have to say that I enjoyed it a lot more this time. The people working acted normal, there was no yelling or anything going on. And I tried something different this time which probably helped. Anyhow it was delicious and I'd recommend it. Plus.. it's not that bad for you. I recommend becoming a fan of them on Facebook so you get clued in on the specials they have going on. (A-)

Espresso My Love origination
I was inspired to name my blog this because 1.) I've found a love for lattes 2.) For ballet class we performed a dance to the song called 'Espresso My Love' by the Divers
Here is the video of the dance :) The quality isn't spectacular, but you get the point.

Savoy (October Review)
Savoy.. sounds kind of cool doesn't it? Turns out it's a kind of cabbage and also a historical region in Europe. Wait... I guess what they were going for is that it means 'restoration' in french. Soo before going here I had mostly heard about their 2 for 1 gyros from midnight to 2am. Apparently they're a big hit. I decided to try it out for lunch one day with a group of friends. I was very delighted by the ambiance in the place. They also had a really cool patio in back. The inside has this cozy feeling with the brick walls.. wood floor.. and unique lighting. I decided to order the gyro since I had heard so much about it. I thought it was pretty all right. I don't have anything to compare it to because I've never had one before. I would definitely go back though. Probably try something else on the menu. Great experience overall. (A-)
Wildcats (August review?)
Let's just not look at the date I actually wrote this compared to when I should have written this. A few months ago my co-worker and I decided to check out this new sports bar and grill that opened in town. It's in the old Timberlodge steakhouse that was also known as Northwoods for a short period of time. Let's just say they almost did a nice job with it until I saw that they painted some of the wood beams! I mean seriously.. why would you do that? Purple, really? And purple carpet? They took some of the decor a little too far. They really opened the place up though which is kind of nice. It's too bad I don't think it's ever been full :( I did think the food was decent though. Overall I give it an okay. If someone wanted to go there I would but it wouldn't be a top pick for me. (C)

Smiley Cup -B+ (July Review)
Today Heidi and I ventured to Smiley Cup for lunch. I've driven by this 'little box in a parking lot' numerous times and was always curious how it was. So I finally got to try it out. They mostly serve beverages, but they have three sandwiches to choose from. They also sell organic meat?! I know.. kind of odd. Anyhow I tried the tuna salad sandwich and we split a mango smoothie. The guy working.. Mr. Smiley himself.. was very pleasant. He gets an A. The sandwich I probably could whip up pretty easily at home.. but it was still delicious. It was missing a side of some sort though? Whether it be chips.. fruit.. a cookie.. a pickle... anything would do really. Otherwise it seems like you're paying a lot for a sandwich. So that gets a B. Now the mango smoothie... Oh so amazing! I'd definitely go back for one of those! All in all it was a nice little lunch. I'd definitely support Mr. Smiley again :)

Zanz - B
Once again I neglected to post my review in a timely matter. Buuuttt I still remember how the food was. I'm sure many of you have driven by Zanz and wondered how it's still in business. I know I have.. for years. Trust me, I was nervous about going there. The inside is about as awesome as the outside of the building. So I'm sure you can envision the greatness. I really just didn't want to touch anything. And I could have gone without being able to see the kitchen behind the front counter. Just minor details though. The cashier was kind of hilarious. Sadly.. if there was a Zanz employee stereotype I felt as though she fit right in. Heidi and I decided it'd be best to get our food 'to go'. We wanted to give them a fair chance and thought it best to try the food in a clean environment. I ordered a taco and tots. Or did I order two tacos? I think I got a beef and a chicken one. Those don't really stand out to me.. they were okay. What was seriously amazing though was the tots! Less grease than taco john's.. so they were healthy basically. And they were just awesome. I would definitely go back and get those. And then I also tried some of Heidi's cheese chillito.. which is the hype at Zanz if you didn't know. It looks completely disgusting! But it's actually quite delicious. So don't judge this one on its outer beauty. True beauty lies within. I give this place a solid B. Food was good. Actual building needs some work.. they should think about that.. maybe a little remodel. :)

Goodbye Restless Court
So today I said my last goodbye to my first house. I think if this all would have gone smoother and happened faster I could have just bypassed this and moved on.. but no it had to drag out. So of course today when I stopped by to drop something off I had to do one last walk around. The truth is.. I love that house so much. Every time I walked in that house these last five and a half years I felt right at home. I think the day I first looked at it I felt that way. It's just so cute and cozy.
When I was there today the uncared for plants along the fence just ate at me. I really hope the new guy at least tries to tend for them. Looking back I think I should have just went there and cleaned it up a few weeks ago.. oh well too late now. Anyhow I left the house feeling really sad. One thing I won't miss though.. HOWARD! Of course as soon as I got there he decided to take his dogs out.. had to check out who stopped by.. weirdo! I feel bad for the new guy.
All in all.. I hope one day I feel as at home at my new house as I did there.

Tonn's Review - cambodian food?

I realize I went here a month ago.. but I needed some time to recover from it. You see the front of the building? Ya it's actually a warning. I thought for sure that they just didn't want to invest much in the sign. So Marcie, Mari, Heidi, and I enter Tonn's with an open mind. I immediately questioned why we wanted to come here in the first place. We kind of just stood by the front for a moment soaking it all in. It basically didn't really look like a restaurant. There were a few tables scattered about.. and LOTS of junk up against some of the walls. A nice man approached us and asked if we were eating there or to go. Wasn't even a question.. 'we'll take it to go please!' So we sat down and looked over the menus. Then a lady came out to take our order. Of course she didn't need a notepad because she's done this for years and has a great memory.. err. Or let's just say she came out and asked us to confirm what we wanted 2 or 3 times. No biggie though.. the food is going to be GREAT! As we wait for the food.. we admire the dirty walls.. ceiling... carpet.. seats.. well everything. There was a nice food stain on the wall right behind me.. not quite sure when it was put there. Finally we get our food. Go up to pay for it. I was glad I just had cash. She had those with credit cards swipe it themselves and enter the cost? strange. As we walked out we also noticed the nice box of toys they put out for kids to play with. Who cares if they're 20 years old and have never been cleaned. Anyhow so we headed back to the office to eat our food. I think we were all a little nervous to say the least. Got to the breakroom.. pulled my container out of the bag.. nice long black hair laying on top of it.. uhh.. let's just pretend that didn't happen. So I start eating.. it wasn't bad.. but not the greatest food I've ever had. I just got sweet and sour chicken. Thought I'd try and play it safe. The sauce was kind of thick which I thought was weird?! But it tasted okay. I kept eating.. found another hair. Then I found one in Heidi's. I think after this point we were all just about done eating. A lot of food was wasted that day :(
All in all.. made a good story.

LJS Review... long overdue
Well I went to Long John Silvers for the first time about a month ago.. but no worries I remember it vividly! When I walked in I was shocked at how nice it actually was inside... I mean for a fast food place. They even had a flat screen tv! I of course got up to the counter and stared at the menu for a few minutes while about five employees watched me try to make a decision. There was definitely some added pressure. I decided to just go with a fish sandwich combo. They were super fast at getting my order done. I thought that the sandwich was great.. but the french fries were pretty meh. But I would definitely go back and get like two fish sandwiches off the dollar menu again. Although the fat content is a deterrent.. so I might have to burn some extra calories that day. Overall I give LJS a solid B :)

Obsession
Basically.. my next door neighbor is obsessed with shoveling. I think he is the most anal man I have ever met. If there is ever a half inch of snow on his steps I start to worry. Yesterday I get home about a minute after him.. he immediately grabs his shovel and starts doing his steps. As I pull into the garage I glance at mine covered in about four inches of snow and think meh?! Ben will get it later.. that's how much I care about shoveling, I'm sure it drives him crazy. As a matter of fact.. at our association meetings shoveling your steps has been on the agenda more than once. Apparently it's something that you have to do? weird. Anyhow back to the rest of my story. So I go into the house and I can hear him finish shoveling so I think to myself.. sweet! He's done shoveling so now I can take my nap. (Yes, I nap frequently.. do you have a problem with it?) So I lay down... and I can hear my neighbor watching tv! I was like seriously!!!!!!!! So I tune that out.. fall asleep for a bit. Literally.. a half hour later.. I wake up to him shoveling his steps AGAIN!! WHAT THE HELL MAN!! YOU JUST SHOVELED! and..... it's not done snowing yet...... so chill out! It's not like anyone is going to come visit you anyhow!
Thanks for tuning into my latest mini-rant :)

The Cake
Once upon a time.. I decided it would be a grand idea to buy my mom a birthday cake for her birthday. I had my aunt go and pick it up and deliver it for me since I work 60 miles away.. I was so excited to hear how happy she was. So I get this email from her saying 'thank you'.. and this is what's attached....

What in the world is this Dairy Queen? REALLY??!! Did you have your five-year old child come in and help you? I was SOO embarrassed! It's not like just my mom saw it.. it was meant to be shared with ALL of her co-workers too! So basically they all probably thought oh that's so cute .. how old is your daughter?... WHAT! She's 24! Okay I'm done ranting now. Enjoy the scibbles :)

Running
So I FINALLY went running tonight.. I've been meaning to do so for like two months now! I know.. pathetic. I'm really glad I went though. It really wasn't that fun and to be honest I feel disgusting now.. but it still feels good at the same time because I got my butt off the couch! So if you need a good workout.. run.. and do a session of Jari Love- she's CRAZY!
Music
Do you ever wonder what the world would be like without music? I think there'd be chaos. It always pulls through for me and makes me feel better :) Plus there's music for every mood!

Restaurant Review #1
Wendy's
Grade: C-
Let me just start out by saying... The truth hurts sometimes. At Wendy's I ordered a Chicken Wrap, Bacon and Cheese Baked Potato, and a Square Hamburger. The hamburger was very comparable to McDonald's.. so it was all right. They get a bonus point for being original and making it a square though. And I did get it without mustard like I had asked.. so that's good. The baked potato.. could have been fabulous if they had used shredded cheese versus nacho cheese. The potato was probably the favorite out of my meal choices. So basically if the cheese was different it would get an A.. especially since it was like $1.50 or something. Can't really go wrong with that. However.. fat content/calories = NOT GOOD! Um ya so the chicken wrap for some reason had a pink highlighter mark on the tortiall?! Not sure what that was all about. The mark was in the shape of a breast cancer awareness ribbon though, so I'm not sure if it was intentional or not? Basically it tasted like any other chicken snack wrap. I feel like every fast-food place now has them. Downfall to all of this.. Immediate stomach ache after eating. So it was an average meal.. cheap price.. and the minus gets tacked on because of the stomach ache - NOT COOL WENDY's!

Restaurant Reviews
My lovely friend Heidi and I had this genius idea of trying restaurants we've never been to in Mankato. One new one per month in 2010.. unless we're feeling extremely adventurous we could squeeze two in.. but we don't want to overdo it. Keep in mind that most of these are not high-class. BUT we must be fair to all venues and give them a chance. First adventure... Wendy's! We are going to review each place we eat at. I'm not a professional reviewer by any means so bare with me!
